Hi, I'm Stuart. I'm based in Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire, where I live with my wife and two teenage boys. I have been a photographer for 25 years.
My reportage style of photography is influenced by my experience as a paparazzi and society wedding photographer.
My photographic career started at 17 working for a London based press agency, specialising in capturing images of the Royal family and celebrities for publication in national and international media. My images have featured in magazines around the world (including Hello! magazine in this country and People magazine in America) and national newspapers (including the front page of The Guardian).
I went on to work with a respected London wedding photographer and after a few years we set up one of the first fully digital Venture portrait studios in this country. This raised studio portraiture to the next level, moving away from the old-fashioned posed images to modern dynamic family portraits, now copied by most portrait studios. Although this studio style gave portrait photography a much needed lift, this still produces portraits with sterile backgrounds and families with forced smiles and poses.
I want my portraits to have a more natural feel and so have completely moved away from studio photography. My portraits are of people taking part in their favourite pastimes in their natural settings, creating truly personal pieces of art.
